Tim Porter has been in media for 30 years. He lives and breathes publishing and has been personally involved with Boating NZ magazine since 1993 in sales and management roles. His career included an eight-year stint as General Manager for Fairfax Media’s Specialist Magazines – NZ Auto Car, NZ Fishing News, Fish & Game NZ and Boating NZ, among others.
Tim was also a member of the Lifestyle Titles Executive Team, guiding NZ House and Garden, Cuisine and other leading consumer titles in Fairfax Magazines’ lifestyle portfolio.
Tim’s specialist publishing experience and deep understanding of the marine industry is unrivalled. He brings a wealth of hard earned experience and wide-ranging knowledge and is a real asset to our team who has access to an extensive list of media and marine industry contacts in New Zealand and around the globe.



Founder and sales director Brett Patterson is the vision behind Marine Media PR. A 35-year career in the marine industry, with over 20 years in marine media, has given him the knowledge and real world experience to understand the needs of specialist marine companies.

Jessie is passionate about all things marketing and design. Establishing her business, Mckenzie Media in late 2015, she has been designing websites, managing marketing and bringing branding together for a range of different businesses since day-one.
Jessie has an eye for detail and likes to get to know her clients well so she can develop a personalised strategy that really works for them.
Jessie grew up boating around New Zealand’s beautiful coastline and on its many lakes. While she finds herself in front of a screen more often than not these days, she still takes every available opportunity to get out on the water for a ‘work’ boat test!



John Eichelsheim is a journalist and writer with over 30 years’ experience, specialising in marine and outdoors themes. He has supplied hundreds of boating, fishing and travel articles for domestic and international consumer magazines, authored several books, and for the last 14 years, produced high quality PR material for marine industry clients and others.
John’s portfolio includes print and digital content creation, photography, video, television and radio.



Lawrence is a keen sailor and has been writing about boats and all things marine for some 40+ years. He has a special interest in marine engineering and technology, but also enjoys exploring maritime history and heritage.



Sarah Ell is a journalist, author and racing sailor who has been writing about marine topics for more
than 30 years. As well as writing for newspapers and magazines, Sarah is experienced in creating
written and visual content of all kinds for clients, including producing PR material, corporate
magazines and newsletters. She also enjoys video presentation and is the face of the Boating New
